The Indian Army on Tuesday
posthumously honored one of its soldiers who had died
during counter-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir
in 2005.
Major General R K Hooda,
General Officer Commanding Maharashtra, Gujarat &
Goa Area presented the Badge of Sacrifice and Certificate
of Honor to the parents of late Major Satyajeet Shinde
at a function held in south Mumbai on Tuesday.
Shinde, who was from the
Kolhapur district of the state, was posted to the 14th
Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir after being commissioned
in Maratha Light Infantry.
He was killed while leading
a search and destroy mission against terrorists in the
jungle of Chitiyar Forest of Kashmir on May 20, 2005.
