 LOCKHEED MARTIN LOOKS TO EXPAND INDIA PRESENCE EMPHASISES PORTFOLIO DIVERSIFICATION
New Delhi, February 15, 2008—Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] is set to expand its presence in India in 2008 with the opening of its India subsidiary and appointment of Ambassador Douglas A. Hartwick as Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin India Pvt. Ltd.
Lockheed Martin’s India Innovation Growth Programme launched in March 2007 continues to receive an overwhelming response from innovators across India. Some 327 fresh applications have been received in the second year of the programme from which 60 promising technologies have been shortlisted. Further, a three-day Workshop on “Commercialization Strategies for Entrepreneurs” will be held from 18th to 20th February 2008 by FICCI and IC2 Institute, Lockheed Martin partners for the programme.  Ambar Jyoti, Network Centric Operations Centre was inaugurated in August 2007 in collaboration with Wipro.
Providing a global overview of the company at a Special Defexpo curtain raiser briefing, Ambassador Hartwick spoke about the core markets and also provided a glimpse into these applications for the Indian defence, security and civil markets.
Emphasising the company’s product diversity, Ambassador Hartwick stated, “While Lockheed Martin is often known for its leading aeronautics products such as its combat aircraft or the C-130J airlifter, some 70 percent of the corporation’s turnover comes from products and services outside of its aeronautics business.” Lockheed Martin business areas include Aeronautics, Information Systems & Global Services, Electronic Systems and Space Systems. The company has a balanced portfolio with a diverse customer base.
