India has been served by many
great nation lovers like Air Chief Marshal SP Tyagi who has
sacrifice lots of years of his life to serve his nation. SP
Tyagi was born on 14th March 1945 at Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
When he became aware of his
surrounding, he was determined to contribute in the field
of Defence. "Where there is a will, there is a way"
and on 31st of Dec 1963, SP Tyagi was commissioned as a fighter
pilot in the Indian Air Force at the age of 18.
SP Tyagi discharged his duties
with full loyalty and Indian Air Force was fully conscious
about his honesty and capabilities. So, during the war of
1965, he was the first choice of Indian Army for flying an
aircraft in the period of great emergency. In this war SP
Tyagi proved himself and he got another chance to fly MiG
21 Aircraft in the war of 1971. It became the matter to be
felt prestigious because Indian Air Force showed a great faith
in SP Tyagi.
This man has proved himself
as a great asset to Indian Air Force. He has held many prestigious
appointments of Air Officer Commanding -in-chief of three
operational commands that is Central -Air command, South-Western
Air Command and Western Air-Command.
He has also been Commanding
Officer of Air Force Station, Jamnagar. During Gulf-War, SP
tyagi had the first hand view of Gulf-War I. SP Tyagi also
had so many important staff appointments which include-
- Director of Air Defence,
- Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Intelligence),
- Assistant Chief of the Air Staff ( Operations), and
- Senior Air Staff Officer, HQ Central Air Command.
SP Tyagi has carved his name
in golden letters as he has been the recipient of Presidential
awards like
- Param Vishist Seva medal
- Ati Vishist seva Medal
- Vayu Sena medal
Besides playing the role of
a devoted Air-Officer, SP Tyagi has proved himself as a great
home maker. SP Tyagi is married to Ms. Vandana Tyagi and now
he is a great source of inspiration for his son Anurag and
Daughter Rasika.
