Battalion Reraised

1 March 1962 7 Rajputana Rifles became first battalion to be re-raised after Independence in Delhi Cantonment
1 September 1962 19 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi Cantonment
1 January 1963 * 8 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi cantonment
1 April 1964 * 9 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi cantonment
1 October 1964 * 11 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi cantonment
15 January 1966 13 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi cantonment
1 October 1966 * 14 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi cantonment
15 January 1968 31 Rajputana Rifles was raised specifically for counter insurgency operations. However on 20 February 1971, the battalion reverted back to standard organisation and was designated as 12 Rajputana Rifles.
15 May 1976 *15 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi Cantonment
1 July 1979 *16 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi Cantonment
1 January 1981 20 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi Cantonment
11 February 1985 21 Rajputana Rifles was raised in Delhi Cantonment
   
* all these battalions had been raised during the Second World War and had been disbanded thereafter.
