Officers General Duty
Branch This is the operational branch of the
Coast Guard. Command of ships at sea can only be exercised
by officers of the General Duty Branch.As a General Duty Officer
you will operate weapons and sensors and perform the command
function which demands a wide sphere of knowledge of your
equipment. The safety of your ship and men, the maneuver of
your ships in war and in peace time operations will be your
responsibility.
- Both men and women 21 to 25 years age Relaxation for special
categories Degree (with Mathematics and Physics upto intermediate
of Class XII of the 10+2+3 scheme), passed Second Mates
Examination prescribed by the Ministry of Surface Transport
- Pilot/Navigator Coast Guard operates fixed wing
aircraft from shore Air Stations for surveillance of the
Exclusive Economic Zone. In addition, helicopters are embarked
on Coast Guard Offshore Patrol Vessels to provide local
surveillance and perform Search and Rescue missions at sea.Operating
these aircraft at sea is a challenging task and will bring
your special skills to the fore. As an Officer of the Pilot/Navigator
Branch, you will have opportunity to serve both in the Shore
Air-Stations along the coasts of India, as well as embark
ships.
Officers Technical Branch
Modern ships and aircraft abound with advanced technology
and machinery. In the Technical Branch you will be responsible
to keep all these equipment serviceable. You will also get
opportunities to work in shore jobs in Coast Guard repair
organizations. In very few other careers will you be exposed
to such a wide spectrum of opportunities to keep yourself
abreast of modern developments in Engineering. Your career
will be interspread with technical training course upto Post-Graduation
level in India.

- The advertisement is given in leading national newspapers
in both Hindi as well as in English.
- The shortlisted candidates are called for Preliminary
Selection (PSB) as per their choice centres at Mumbai, Chennai,
Calcutta and Delhi
- The PSB consists of Mental Ability Test as well as interview
- The candidates who qualify PSB are called for Final Selection
Board (FSB) at New Delhi.
- The candidates who qualify PSB are required to undergo
medical examination.
- The candidates subject to medical fitness are selected
as per merit list.

- The recruitment is conducted bi-annually.
- The advertisement is given in employment news all over
India, both in Hindi as well as in English.
- The recruitment is conducted in 5 zones viz., Western
Zone, Eastern Zone, North-Eastern Zone, A&N Zone and
North Zone.
- The shortlisted candidates are called for selection test
at convenient centres at various zones.
- The candidates are subjected to Mental Ability Test (Verbal
& Non-Verbal), (only Non-Verbal in case of DB), entrance
test and interview. During the written test and interview
the candidates have the option of answering in Hindi/English.
- The qualified candidates are to undergo medical examination,
those who clear the medmedical examination are selected
as per merit list.

- The recruitment is conducted in eight centres all over
India, viz New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Vizag,

at centres of their choice.
- The candidates are subjected to written test. Those who
qualify the written test undergo interview.
- The qualified candidates are to undergo medical examination.
