Nature Trail - An outbound training program on Team Building

DefenceIndia, introduces an Outbound Training Program on Team Building.

DefenceIndia HR Cell has introduced a Team Building workshop, 'Nature Trail', with the following features.

  1. The workshop is conducted Outbound, In Scenic Locales away from the hustle and bustle. We can have a choice of locales.
  2. The workshop is conducted by ex-soldiers who bring with them, the experience of being creative, innovative and focused in stressful situations, thus coming up trumps...everytime!
  3. The workshop can be customised to incorporate Leadership modules and Motivation modules.
  4. A specific meditation/stress buster plan can also be incorporated.

Our range of activities includes:

    1. Problem Solving Activities - encourage participants to think outside the box so they can find the best solution to a problem and apply it successfully
    2. Cooperation Activities - are designed to encourage synergy, the situation wherein the total outcome is greater than the sum of the individual parts. The activities cannot be accomplished individually but require cooperative effort by a team to achieve the goal. This encourages the transfer of cooperative teamwork to the workplace.
    3. Trust Activities - require participants to literally entrust their safety and lives to other members of the group. These 'challenge by choice' activities like rock climbing and abseiling, help participants overcome irrational fears, like the fear of heights. Once trust is developed between people, communication spontaneously improves due to the sharing of a common experience. This will provide enormous benefits in the workplace.
    4. Self-awareness Activities - help participants discover themselves in terms of their beliefs and values. They identify, analyse and discover new ways of thinking.
    5. Stress-busting Activities - teach participants how to relax before, during and after stressful situations using yoga and self-hypnosis techniques.

Details of Out Bound Training (OBT) Programme

What is OBT?

  1. Any traditional approach is to conduct training programs in a close classroom situation for 6 to 8 hours.
  2. OBT is an effective option to provide or create a learning environment outside the classroom (usually in natural surroundings), wherein participants learn while performing certain interactive exercises and carrying out certain adventurous activities.
  3. Focus of OBT is on experiential learning. It ensures learning for all the participants.

Why OBT?

  1. "Globalisation - Competition - Rapid Change - New Technologies - Survival of the fittest." These are the present challenges to our organisations. Any growth oriented and dynamic organisation wanting to succeed in this situation needs highly effective, competent, proactive and innovative managers.
  2. Research done on Indian managers reveals that, "Scope for Self Development" is one of the top 6 factors, which motivates managers.
  3. Learning through OBT (adventure) provides the scope for self-development that prepares the managers and executives for the present-day challenges and also motivates them to act upon.
  4. Traditional classroom training has certain limitations in imparting training in the area of various life-skills (like developing positive attitude, building team or providing leadership). OBT by its inherent approach of "Learning while living" transcends these limitations.

What are the distinct dimensions of OBT?

Any OBT has following major distinct dimensions, which result into a very receptive & conducive learning environment.

  1. Informal Environment
  2. Active & Enthusiastic Involvement
  3. More Time & Flexibility of Schedule
  4. Possibility & Feasibility of Interaction
  5. Relaxed & Receptive State of Mind, most of the time

Details of OBT dimensions

  1. Informal Environment supports natural curiosity, which results into inquisitiveness, which is very vital for learning.
  2. Active & Enthusiastic Involvement asks for use of almost all senses (to see, listen, touch, smell & taste), which ensures optimum learning.
  3. More Time & Flexibility of Schedule provides scope for flexibility in carrying out exercises/activities. It becomes easier to make spontaneous changes and adaptations.
  4. Possibility & Feasibility of Interaction results into sharing of experiential learning. Sharing different viewpoints about any idea reinforces the critical thinking and hence learning. It provides opportunities to share quality time as a human being, to ventilate suppressed emotions and to ease out the conflicts. Collectively it results into strong bond of relations.
  5. Relaxed & Receptive State of Mind enhances capacity to learn (relate, analyse, compare, evaluate, judge and act upon) which is the most required dimension for an effective learning.

For Whom?

  1. For the Executives, Managers, Supervisors in any functional area of Management, who are physically fit.
  2. For Marketing/Sales People, it is very vital, as it results into an enhanced attitude of "I can" and the strong team.
  3. No prior physical or any sort of training required.

Which are the major activities involved?
