BSF Academy, Tekanpur

About BSF Academy:

The BSF Academy, established in 1966, is located 32 kms away from Gwalior on Gwalior-Jhansi Road. It is spread over an area of 2923 acres, incl. a 643 acres lake. The surroundings around Tekanpur provide an ideal setting for the outdoor training activities. This elite training institution is conducting both basic and in-service training programmes for a broad spectrum of BSF personnel from Constables to Senior level Officers.

Vision

To make BSF Academy an elite institution of the Nation in the field of Border Security and its management, conduct of counter insurgency operations and human resource development. .

Mission

To conduct basic training of officers and Sub Inspectors and in-service courses for Commanders /Staff at all levels to make them leaders and commanders in carrying out assigned role and tasks during peace, disturbed peace and war situations effectively & efficiently utilising modern technologies/systems.

Objectives

  • To make BSF Academy & training establishments located in Tekanpur as centres of excellence.
  • To make institution as a think tank and Academic centre for Border Security, Counter Insurgency & Internal Security Strategic Planning & management
  • To establish R & D base with a view to study and recommend introduction of latest systems and redesigning tactical & strategical concepts related to Border Management.
  • To train professionally competent, motivated commanders at all levels capable of handling ground level problems and lead troops to success utilising available resources.
  • To be a prime mover in areas of HRD, TQM, Resettlement and Rehabilitation.
  • To act as a study centre of Jiwaji University on Border Security and Management. BORDER FENCING /FLOOD LIGHTING/ROADS:

Training Units

Artillery Training School (ATS)
The Arty Training Wing started functioning as part of the technical wing in Dec 1972.It was formally christened as Artillery Training School on 01 Apr 90. Over a period of time, ATS has built up its reputation as unparalleled institute in artillery training. Its basic aim is to impart basic gunnery training to those newly inducted into Artillery and upgrade the knowledge of artillery personnel. Its also trains officers and SOs on control of arty fire and to impart pre-course training to BSF personnel proceeding on specialized artillery courses to army institutions. Besides, conducting courses, the ATS also conducts lectures/demonstrations for various basic and in-service courses being conducted at STS and Tactical Wing of this institution.

Office Commanding
Sh B S Naruka AC/ OC ATS assumed the charge of OC on 29 Jan 05. He joined BSF on 27 July 1974. He is a Post Graduate in Public Administation. He has served in all the frontiers and has undergone various in service courses with instructional/good grading.
He has rendered his service in United Nations Peace Keeping Mission in Kosovo and completed the prestigious UN assignment successfully in 2001-2002.He is a recipient of Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2004.
