PARIS AIR SHOW Safran gets 140 mln eur govt loan to develop Russian jet engine

Paris, June, 15, 2005 (AFX)

Safran SA said it will receive a 140 mln eur loan from the French state in order to develop a new engine planned for the Russian Regional Jet programme being developed by Sukhoi.

The agreement was signed by Safran officials and Transport Minister Dominique Perben at the Paris Air Show, and confirms a pledge made by the government in December.

The French state owns a 31.3 pct stake in Safran, formed earlier this year by the merger of state-owned aerospace engine group Snecma and electronics group Sagem.
