BEL bags $18B orders

India’s premier Public Sector, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) has bagged $18.1 billion orders from ministry of defence for various ground support high-mobility vehicles. A large part of the supplies would be made in financial year 2006-07 and the rest would be carry-forwarded to the year 2007-08, BEML informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

BEML would supply high mobility applications, heavy recovery vehicles and special purpose vehicles for Pinaka Project, trailers and engineering mine ploughs for breaching minefields.

The company has got a total carry-forward order book position including defence equipments of $5.79 billion. The company had earlier developed and taken up several projects including mines scattered laying vehicle, medium and light armored recovery vehicle, field artillery tractors and ammunition loader vehicles for the Indian Defence services. BEML's shares were trading at 4.44 per cent at BSE.
