Rolls-Royce sets up Indian subsidiary

Bangalore, November 27, 2005 (IANS)

Britain-based Rolls-Royce on Friday announced it had set up a wholly-owned company in Bangalore to provide engineering services for its global operations.

Rolls-Royce, the world’s leading power systems and aero engines firm, plans to employ about 200 engineers by 2007.

“The subsidiary will sub-contract work to Quest, the Bangalore-based product development and solutions provider with whom we have an existing relationship,” Rolls-Royce CEO John Rose told reporters.

About 100 engineers from Quest are already employed on providing solutions through Rolls-Royce. “We selected Quest as partner to provide engineering services for its ability to meet our growing requirements,” Rose said.

“We will direct engineering work packages to Quest with whom we have had a successful 18-month pilot programme,” he added.

Rolls Royce has about 1,000 aero engines in service in the country, catering mainly to the defence sector.
