Surface-to-air missile 'Trishul' test-fired

Balasore, April 26, 2005

Trishul, the multi-target surface-to-air missile indigenously developed by India, was test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from Balasore on Tuesday, defence sources said.

The missile was launched from a mobile launcher between 1.05 pm and 1.10 pm aimed at a target. It was not immediately known whether the experiment was a success or not.

Trishul has a striking capability of 12 km and can carry a 15 kg warhead. Powered by solid propellant, the missile has supersonic speed, the sources said.
