Musharraf should abide by assurance: India
India today asked Pakistan President
Pervez Musharraf to abide by his assurance of not having
''further slippages'' on his commitments to end infiltration,
cross-border terrorism and dismantling of terrorist
infrastructure.
During a conversation with British foreign secretary
Jack Straw earlier this month, Musharraf had admitted
that there had been slippages in the pledge made by
him in the January 12 nationwide address when the military
ruler had promised to end all terrorism emanating from
his country. The Pakistani President had assured that
such slippages would not happen again.
''Pakistan should ensure that there were no further
slippages on its commitments,'' official sources here
said in response to questions.
New Delhi has made it clear that Pakistan has to take
action on the ground to end infiltration and cross-border
terrorism permanently to create a conducive atmosphere
for considering resumption of dialogue.
