Kashmir is no Palestine, says India

India on Tuesday said the Kashmir problem cannot be equated with the Palestinian issue since these were 'two worlds apart.'

Commenting on Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf's comment in this regard, a spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs said there should be absolutely no comparison between the two.

Gen Musharraf, in an interview to British Newspaper The Independent, had said the the Indo-Pak dispute over Kashmir was 'another Palestine in the making'.

"I keep telling the United States and everyone: we must understand the dangers of this region.

"These dangers can only be averted if we resolve the Kashmir dispute. Otherwise, there is another Palestine here in the making," Gen Musharraf told the newspaper in London.
