India can develop ICBMs: ex-ISRO chairman

India is capable of developing Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), former chairman of Space Commission Prof. U.R. Rao has said.

The country has enough scientific and technological competency to develop ICBMs, Rao said in Meerut.

Rao, who was awarded an honorary D Litt by Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of CH Charan Singh University, Meerut, Vishnu Kant Shastri, said India's space programme strived for peace and welfare of humanity. The country has no plans for a moon mission, Rao added.
