Anti-tank Guided Missile `Nag' tested successfully

Hyderabad, March 20, 2005 (PTI)

The third generation anti-tank guided missile system 'Nag' was successfully test fired at the Army range near Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) scientists along with top brass of the Army yesterday tested the missile, which is also capable of being launched from advanced light helicopter Dhruv.

"The Nag missile is a 'fire and forget' system with a top attack capability and was launched from the Nag Missile Carrier NAMICA exclusively made for it," Director of Defence Research and Development Laboratory Prahlada told PTI today.

"During one of the tests Nag was mounted with a warhead that destroyed a battle tank which was located four kms away," he said.

"Nag is an all-weather day and night weapon and its unique guidance system based on infra-red imaging ensures high accuracy and mainly targets a battle tank from the top," Prahlada said.
