Barmer, September 22, 2005 (UNI)

Border force officials of India and Pakistan met here today and discussed ways to make joint patrolling effective in the area.

Deputy inspector general of Border Security Force, Harish Kashyap and deputy director general of Sind Rangers Tasdiq Ahmed also decided to jointly protect the border posts.

Additional inspector general of BSF, Gujarat Frontier, M L Batham told reporters that the tensions on the border had eased following meetings at various levels between the two sides.

Both the sides also stressed upon the need to check drug trafficking through the border routes, Mr Batham said.
