Former Air Marshal and
Director of Centre for Advanced Strategic Studies, Pune,
Dr S Kulkarni suggested that revolution in security
studies and military affairs was a must to achieve comprehensive
security for the nation.
Delivering the inaugural
address yesterday at the two-day national seminar ''New
Dimensions of Comprehensive Security'', organised on
the occasion of 17th National Congress for Defence Studies
(NCDS) here, he said this would enable to harmonise
micro level security at national level with micro level
security at individual level.
By this country could
achieve comprehensive security for the nation'', he
pointed out.
Dr Kulkarni lauded Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh for setting up a new task force
at the Centre in this regard.
He said the definition
of security has changed over the five decades of independent
India. ''Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi in the
early stages of Independence stated that expenditure
on armed and police forces was immoral.'' Dr Kulkarni
said in the present scenario security is associated
with development.
